The Airbus A319 is a member of the Airbus A320 family of short- to medium-range, narrow-body, commercial passenger twin-engine jet airliners manufactured by Airbus.
Typical 2-class seating is 124 passengers, but it can carry up to 156 passengers. Maximum range is 3,300 nm. Final assembly of the aircraft takes place in Hamburg, Germany.
The A319 is a shortened-fuselage variant of the Airbus A320 and entered service in April 1996 with Swissair, two years after the stretched Airbus A321 and eight years after the original A320. The A319 is close in size to the somewhat smaller Airbus A318.
The current version is the A319neo (New Engine Option).
Total Airbus A319 orders and deliveries are shown in the table below (through January 2020).
Airbus A319 Model | Orders | Deliveries |
A319ceo | 1,486 | 1,479 |
A319neo | 84 | 2 |
Shown below is a side-by-side comparison of the Airbus A319 and the somewhat shorter Airbus A318. While the A319 is longer than the A318, it features a shorter vertical stabilizer than does the A318. Both the A318 and A319 have fore and aft cabin doors, plus one emergency exit over the wing. The A318 has 11 windows in front of the emergency exit, while the A319 has 13 windows. |
EasyJet Airbus A319 Note that due to the high density seating on the A319s for EasyJet, Airbus had to add an extra overwing exit. That makes the window and seat count the only reliable difference between the EasyJet A319s and their A320s. Other airlines may use the same configuration, such as Volotea, ChAir, and Allegiant. |

Airplane spotter's guide for the Airbus A319 and A320 is included below. The A319 has only one emergency exit door over each wing, while the A320 has two exit doors over the wing. |
